Catapult with 4 man crew and huge terrain base plus lots of
arrows to stick in..showing that these Berserkers are under
heavy incoming fire........ One of the nicest sculpted pewter
sets ever made..bar none.....the figures, the terrain base,
the catapult are all world class pieces of sculpting and the
factory did a nice job reproducing these. VA003 combines
with VA004 Thunderbolt Add-on to make a 6 figure
set........VA003 has a 'plug' which fits where one of the
figures from VA004 is intended to go.....so 003 is great on its
own but fantastic when 003 and 004 are combined. All
figures are removable and can be used separately ......

An instant classic... somewhat mysterious, somewhat
ominous...and very Robin Hoodesque. I love this
figure......Mr. Ortiz captured what I wanted in terms of
'mood" perfectly.....you know this guy is lethal with his
longbow yet you can't quite identify him....could he be
he of a double identity??? Is he really nobility posing as
a poor woodsman??? All we know is he's gonna help
some Viking along to Valhalla in a hurry....ah, I can't wait
to add to this range of masked avengers.....but first I've
got some ACW--actually lots of them to do.......

Very popular set of Viking leading a winsome Saxon
captive off to the boats to start a new life.....terrain base
has great detail and figures are removable. Female
sculpt here and in set VA009 led one jealous competitor
would-be manufacturer to venture the opinion that the
women in our sets were not realistic as they were all
'too attractive'......I've discussed this with Mr. Ortiz and
he and I agree that (a) the other manufacturer is jealous
as all of their few females look pretty manly, (b) one
only needs to take a peek at the VA set "Wrath of Big
Red" to see that not all is cuteness in the village which
we are raiding and (c) when it comes to Viking Raids, we
can do as we damn well please.......these are our people
and we're telling this story how we see it happening....

combat.....I love bopth of these sculpts but especially like
the Viking.....take a look at his shield and you just might
see the Conte logo making an in battle appearance. Our
logo is based upon a Norse design used in the greatest
film of all time. "The Vikings", which Mr. Douglas was kind
enough to approve our using many years ago.....the
design appears on the sail of the Great Snake Viking ship
in the opening sequences of the film......using the design
on the shield of the figure here, on our stationery , etc. is
a silent tribute every day to Mr. Douglas........
